Hello, and welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.
Starting this blog feels like the beginning of something quietly powerful – a space for parents, caregivers and allies walking alongside deaf children to find encouragement, practical support, and a sense of belonging.
If we’ve not met yet, I’m Kellyanne – a deaf woman, mum of two deaf kids, qualified Teacher of the Deaf and founder of Growing Communicators. I bring deeply personal insight and professional expertise to this work, having walked this path myself in more ways than one.
Over the years, I’ve supported families and professionals to nurture connection, communication and confidence in deaf children. But beyond my qualifications, it’s my lived experience – as a deaf person and a parent of deaf kids – that shapes how I guide, listen, and support.
I created this space for families who are navigating unfamiliar terrain.
The ones asking:
“Where do we even start?”
“How can we support our child in a way that considers who they are?”
“Are we doing this right?”
Whether you’re just beginning to explore Auslan, feeling overwhelmed by information or craving community from someone who gets it – you’re in the right place.
In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing:
- Gentle tips for building communication at your own pace
- Stories and reflections from both my personal and professional journey
- Insights into bilingual parenting, deaf identity, and everyday connection
- Printable tools and resources you can actually use (no overwhelm, just support)
This will be a space for clarity, calm, and compassion.
And I’d love to hear from you too – whether in the comments, by email, or over on socials.
Thank you for finding your way here.
Here’s to slow, supportive beginnings and the powerful growth that follows.
