It's certainly been a slower start to 2025, but like the turtle in the pic, I'm getting there! It's harder to work at home with both kids around, but rest assured, I have many plans that I can't wait to share with you as the year progresses.

Finally saw Wicked in the cinemas yesterday while we were in Melbourne! @hoytsaustralia , you need to do better in terms of accessibility.

My daughter and I used the Captiview devices which, naturally, meant the viewing was not smooth. After asking for the devices, the one person serving left to go and get them (therefore stopping other people from purchasing food). We arrived early to our seats with the devices, and I saw the screens were blank/black. I was a little concerned but also knew the ads were rarely captioned. The movie starts…..no captions! 😡

I leave the cinema to find someone to help (therefore missing the movie). The attendant comes back to look at the devices and takes them away to restart them, leaving us with no captions. She comes back a few minutes later with one device, and says her manager is trying to get the other one to work.

One device between two people doesn’t really work due to the screen on the device. So I prioritise my daughter’s access and luckily it’s not too long before the second device is brought in. Once we were set up again we were able to enjoy the movie.
The devices did the usual skipping a line of dialogue every now and then in the second half of the movie. I don’t think I’ve ever had a movie captioned fully with captiview devices.

The movie was fantastic! Although I’m sure I missed a lot as it’s super hard to keep changing my gaze between the screen and the Captiview device.
